Hi, I'm finding 12 mark questions difficult because I can never think of opposing arguments. I find educational achievement the easiest due to being taught the oppposing arguments ie- social class, gender, age, ethnicity etc; however my teacher has not told me what the opposing arguments are for other topics. Would you be able to help?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your question. Opposing arguments are simply any other ways of explaining why something in society happens. So if a question asks if gender has an impact on something, explain how it does, but then provide explanations of social class or ethnicity. You can also use sociological theories such as Marxism or functionalism. All of these broad areas I have mentioned link to most topics in sociology. If you submit a question I will respond with a plan.
Deletewhat do you need to include for each argument?
ReplyDeleteFor each argument (which are the different aspects of formal and informal social control) you must comment on the extent to which they have more or less control over peoples' behaviour than the government. Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask for further help :)
ReplyDeleteSo to achieve a high grade, you should apply sociologist theories into the 12 mark question?
ReplyDeleteHow to write conclusion
ReplyDeleteFor you conclusion write about the extent of agreement or disagreement of the views raised. Also decide which arguments are the strongest based on evidence which could be in the form of statistics or examples of things actually happening in society.
ReplyDeletecould you please come up with a plan for Discuss how far sociologists would agree that there is no longer a typical family in britan?
ReplyDeletecan you give me a template of a answer for gcse sociology
ReplyDeletePlease see the post above. The template is suitable for all 12 mark essays. It is designed to make students include a range of different points view in their essay(s). The only modification I would suggest is to define relevant key works in the introduction rather than simply repeating the question.
